Iran President Says US Was Forced to Choose Dialogue Over Conflict

09 August, 2026 08:23

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said that negotiations and diplomacy forced the United States to move towards an understanding with Tehran, calling it a success of Iran’s diplomatic efforts. He said the current situation provides an opportunity to reach an agreement through dialogue.

Speaking at a press conference in Tehran, Pezeshkian said the United States was expected to follow the points agreed upon in the Islamabad Memorandum and the framework jointly prepared by Iran and Oman. However, he claimed that Washington did not follow those guidelines, which led Iran to take a response.

The Iranian president said that dealing with such a situation requires a dedicated team and added that his government’s team is continuing work to address the ongoing challenges. He expressed hope that Iran would move forward with dignity, determination, and national pride.

Pezeshkian also said that Iran’s policy towards the United States has not changed, accusing Washington of acting as an aggressive and influential power. He stressed that Tehran remains firm on its position despite recent developments.

President of Iran added that the United States and Israel have failed to force Iran into plan through military compression. He advised that attempts could now be made to create divisions and disagreements among the Iranian people.

Calling for national unity, Pezeshkian urged Iranians to remain united and said the country must protect its security and defense capabilities during this challenging period. He emphasized that solidarity among the people would help Iran overcome external pressures.
