US Attacks on Sirik Water Infrastructure Leave Thousands Without Water

Sirik, a city in Iran’s southern Hormozgan Province on the shores of the Persian Gulf, was among the areas reportedly hit by US attacks, with civilian infrastructure sustaining significant damage. According to Sirik Governor Reza Shahidian, the city’s water reservoirs were targeted twice during the attacks. One reservoir was completely destroyed, while another was damaged and taken out of service, worsening water shortages in an area where access to water is already a critical concern.

Local authorities said emergency response and crisis management teams immediately began efforts to restore the water supply. Akbar Jozari, district administrator of Bemani District, said the measures enabled authorities to reconnect around 20,000 residents affected by the damage. Shahidian said Sirik had endured the attacks while continuing to uphold what he described as Iran’s spirit of resilience, freedom and independence.

Jozari condemned the reported targeting of civilian infrastructure, arguing that attacks affecting essential services and people’s well-being had further damaged the image of the United States among Iranians and people around the world. He also questioned whether international organizations and world leaders would demonstrate the courage and integrity to condemn attacks on civilian infrastructure and hold those responsible accountable.
