Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) have rejected the politics of division and violence, describing the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) electoral success as a mandate for development and progress. Speaking in Murree, she said the PML-N had regained its majority in Kashmir and credited party leaders, including Amir Muqam, Rana Sanaullah and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, for their efforts during the election campaign.

Maryam Nawaz said the people of AJK had voted for development and rejected what she described as a politics of confrontation and violence. She stressed that the new government would have to work day and night for the construction and development of AJK, adding that major development projects across the country carry the name of PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif.

She further claimed that few political parties had faced as many conspiracies as the PML-N, but said the party had continued to succeed despite such challenges. Maryam congratulated the party’s leadership and workers on the AJK election victory and said the result demonstrated public confidence in the PML-N’s development-oriented agenda.
