Iranian Parliament Speaker Arrives in Baghdad to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf arrived in Baghdad on Wednesday at the head of a high-ranking parliamentary delegation for talks with senior Iraqi officials on strengthening bilateral relations, regional developments, border security, counterterrorism and economic cooperation. He was received upon arrival by First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Adnan Fayhan.

During his visit, Qalibaf is scheduled to meet with senior Iraqi officials, including the president, as well as economic and cultural figures. He said the talks would focus on expanding cooperation in the political, economic, cultural, social and security fields, enhancing border security, combating terrorism and implementing existing bilateral agreements.

Ahead of his visit, Qalibaf described the relationship between the Iranian and Iraqi peoples as “historic and unbreakable,” emphasizing their shared experience as neighbors and mutual support during difficult periods. He said the two sides would seek to take practical steps to strengthen their shared security, expand cooperation and promote the well-being of both nations.
