Dr. Muhammad Salman Takes Charge as New Executive Director of PIMS

Dr. Muhammad Salman has assumed charge as the new Executive Director of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad. Soon after taking charge, he held a meeting with heads of various departments, attended by PIMS administration officials and directors. Dr. Salman previously served as Chief Executive Officer of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and will retain the additional charge of NIH CEO alongside his new responsibilities at PIMS.

Speaking to the media, Dr. Salman said efforts would be made to address all issues identified in the inquiry committee’s report. He said ensuring patients’ safety and providing quality healthcare facilities would remain a priority, adding that PIMS must improve and accelerate the services offered to patients.

Dr. Salman said two recent incidents at PIMS had highlighted the need for an effective strategy to prevent such occurrences in the future. He acknowledged the hospital’s heavy patient load and said the administration would also approach the Ministry of Health to seek support for providing better facilities and services to patients.
