IRGC Chief Vows Revenge for Deadly Attack on Wedding Ceremony

TEHRAN: Commander-in-Chief of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) General Ahmad Vahidi has vowed that those responsible for the deadly attack on a wedding ceremony in southern Iran will face retaliation.

According to foreign media reports, Vahidi said the blood of the victims would not be wasted and warned that Iran would seek revenge for the attack.

He said the incident had once again exposed what he described as the true face of the United States and accused Washington of seeking to spread fear among civilians.

Meanwhile, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) has launched an internal investigation into the attack following the strike near a wedding ceremony in Iran.

CENTCOM said the US military never deliberately targets civilians and maintained that a communications tower located near the wedding venue was the intended target of the operation.

According to CENTCOM, investigators are reviewing drone footage and the process used to identify and select the target in an effort to determine what happened.

The US military is also examining the possibility that the damage and casualties at the wedding gathering may have been caused by an Iranian missile rather than the American strike.

Iranian officials have blamed the United States for the casualties, describing the incident as a serious attack on civilians.

Washington, however, has maintained that civilians were not intentionally targeted and has initiated an investigation to establish the precise circumstances surrounding the incident.

The investigation is expected to examine aerial surveillance footage, the intended target, the trajectory of the weapon and the sequence of events leading to the casualties.

The conflicting accounts have intensified scrutiny over the conduct of military operations in southern Iran and the protection of civilians amid the continuing confrontation between Iran and the United States.

Iranian officials have warned that the deaths will have consequences, while US authorities have said the investigation will determine how the incident occurred.
