Hindu Majority Dominance in India Raises Serious Questions Over Minorities

10 September, 2026 17:30

Concerns over the dominance of the Hindu majority in India have raised serious questions about the rights and future of minorities.

The Modi government, based on the Hindutva ideology, is facing criticism over policies that are seen as targeting minority communities.

Under the agenda of the BJP and RSS, critics say being non-Hindu is increasingly being treated as a problem in India.

According to recent research on Hindutva, the RSS promotes a Hindu identity based on its ideology that did not previously exist in the same form.

The idea of an “Akhand Bharat” is also linked to Hindutva, which envisions a larger India dominated by Hindu rule, according to the report.

Christian political activist Dr John Dayal said the founders of Hindutva, like Hitler, presented the idea of a nation in which one group would hold all the power.

He said that under Hindutva, there is little space for Islam or Christianity alongside Hindu religion, race and nationalism.

Experts say the growing politics of Hindutva is promoting religious extremism and putting minority rights at serious risk.

The increasing influence of Hindu nationalism has also raised questions about India’s claims of secularism and democracy.
