Mir Raza Case: Judicial Commission to Seek Written Responses From Senior Police Officers

KARACHI: The judicial commission investigating the Mir Raza murder case has decided to seek written responses from senior police officers instead of summoning them before the commission.

The commission has issued a written order covering the proceedings held the previous day.

Statements of Former IO and Business Partner Recorded

According to the order, the commission recorded the statement of former investigation officer Shabbir Laghari during the hearing.

The commission also heard the position of Ahmed, Mir Raza’s business partner, during the proceedings.

The order stated that after consulting with Mir Raza’s family, Ahmed may submit any additional position through an affidavit.

The commission said any statement submitted by Ahmed through an affidavit would be made available to the public.

Written Replies Sought From Senior Police Officers

The judicial commission has decided not to summon senior police officers at this stage.

Instead, the officers will be asked to provide written responses to the issues under consideration.

The decision comes as the commission continues examining the investigation process, witness statements and other material related to the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza’s death.

The commission is expected to review the written responses before deciding on any further proceedings involving the senior police officials.
