Pakistan Highlights Digital Finance and Emerging Technology at UNGA

NEW YORK: Pakistan has highlighted its growing focus on digital finance, tokenization and emerging technologies at the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Minister of State and Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority Chairman Bilal Bin Saqib called for greater participation of the Global South in shaping the rules governing the future international financial system.
Speaking at a UN-related forum, Bilal Bin Saqib said developing countries should have a meaningful role in the process of rewriting global financial rules. Pakistan has also used the UN platform to highlight digital assets, tokenization and artificial intelligence as potential tools for financial inclusion.
Pakistan also co-hosted a policy dialogue on tokenization, bringing discussions on emerging financial technologies into the wider international policy debate.
Meeting With OpenAI CEO
During his engagements in New York, Bilal Bin Saqib also met OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
The two sides discussed potential opportunities related to AI infrastructure, education, skills development and talent development in Pakistan.
They also reviewed possibilities for expanding Pakistan’s participation in the global artificial intelligence economy and increasing cooperation in emerging technologies.
The engagements come as Pakistan works on developing a regulatory framework for digital assets and strengthening its broader digital economy.
