Pezeshkian Departs New York After UN General Assembly Address

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has departed New York for Tehran after attending the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, where he addressed the US-Israeli aggression against Iran, regional developments and Tehran’s nuclear program.

Speaking at the General Assembly on Wednesday, Pezeshkian addressed the Strait of Hormuz, saying Iran could not allow countries to use the strategic waterway while simultaneously using it to carry out what he described as aggression against Iran. He also criticized what he called international double standards, pointing to Israel’s nuclear capabilities and Iran’s continued international inspections and sanctions.

Pezeshkian said increased sanctions and pressure would strengthen the resistance of the Iranian people, while emphasizing Tehran’s continued willingness to pursue diplomacy. “We are ready for dialogue and diplomacy and negotiations, without accepting the language of force,” he told the assembly.
