Field Marshal Asim Munir, Saudi Defence Minister Discuss Makkah Defence Pact and Security

MAKKAH: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces of Pakistan, held an important meeting with Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman to discuss the outcomes of the Chiefs of Staff meeting held under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement and the security situation facing Saudi Arabia.

Prince Khalid bin Salman also shared a photograph of his meeting with Field Marshal Asim Munir on social media platform X.

According to the Saudi Defence Minister, the two sides welcomed the outcomes of the meeting of the Chiefs of Staff of countries participating in the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.

The meeting also focused on attacks targeting Makkah and Saudi Arabia’s civilian and economic infrastructure.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to continuing joint efforts under the Makkah agreement to counter such attacks and strengthen Saudi Arabia’s security.

Prince Khalid said coordination between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia would continue on defence cooperation and joint security measures.

The meeting took place after the Chiefs of Staff of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement member states held discussions in Riyadh on security threats facing Saudi Arabia.

The meeting reviewed regional security developments and ways to strengthen coordination and cooperation among the participating countries.

The Makkah Joint Defence Agreement provides a framework for defence cooperation and coordination between Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkiye.

The mechanism allows the participating countries to consult on regional security developments and discuss coordinated responses to common security challenges.

The latest meeting between Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prince Khalid bin Salman comes amid continued efforts by the three countries to strengthen defence coordination and address emerging security threats in the region.
