11 injured after school van catches fire in Murree; Initial Report Reveal Details

MURREE: An initial investigation report into the school van fire on Angoori Road in Murree has revealed that the vehicle was carrying more passengers than its approved capacity.

According to the preliminary report, 11 people, including the driver, were travelling in the van, while the vehicle was designed to accommodate only eight passengers.

All 11 occupants sustained injuries after the school van caught fire, with the incident reportedly causing burn injuries to the children inside the vehicle.

The preliminary findings suggest that the fire may have started after sparking in the vehicle’s battery. The report also noted that the van did not have a fire extinguisher at the time of the incident.

The accident occurred on Tuesday morning while the van was transporting schoolchildren in Murree. Ten children were injured after the vehicle caught fire.

Deputy Commissioner Murree said the condition of the injured children was out of danger. Some of the children were shifted to Holy Family Hospital for medical treatment.

Authorities are expected to further examine the vehicle and circumstances surrounding the incident as part of the ongoing investigation.
