US Imposes New Sanctions on Iranian and Russian Entities

The United States has imposed new sanctions on one Iranian and two Russian entities as part of efforts to stop the transfer of weapons and military equipment to Iran.

According to the US Treasury Department, the sanctions target Iran’s Saha Airlines, Russian aircraft manufacturer Yakovlev and Russian shipping company MG-Float.

US officials said Yakovlev supplied Iran with Yak-130 military training aircraft and related equipment. They also said vessels managed by MG-Float were involved in transferring ballistic missiles from Iran to Russia.

The Treasury Department said Saha Airlines was involved in the transfer of weapons and related military equipment for Iran.

The United States said the measures support the reimposed UN sanctions on Iran and are part of its “Operation Economic Outcast”.

The Treasury said the main aim of the new sanctions is to restrict Iran’s weapons transfer network and increase financial and trade pressure on entities linked to it.
