“Ready for a Long War”; Iran Highlights Its Weapons Production Capability

TEHRAN: Iran says it has expanded its domestic weapons production capacity to sustain a prolonged conflict, with Defence Ministry spokesperson Reza Talaei-Nik saying output has increased to 2.5 times its pre-war level.
Speaking to Iranian state television, Talaei-Nik said the country’s defence industry had the capacity to meet military requirements during an extended war.
He said Iran had established alternative and secure production sites before the conflict and that manufacturing of military equipment had continued without interruption.
According to Talaei-Nik, around 9,000 companies voluntarily contributed to wartime production efforts, supporting the supply of equipment to the armed forces.
He added that Defence Ministry personnel were working alongside missile crews, drone units and naval and air force personnel to improve weapons and military equipment based on battlefield experience and emerging threats.
Talaei-Nik said Iran would prioritise meeting its own military requirements before increasing production for export.
The remarks come amid continuing tensions between Iran, the United States and Israel. Tehran has repeatedly warned that any renewed attack would prompt a response, while presenting the expansion of its domestic defence industry as a means of sustaining military operations.
The reported production figures and claims about Iran’s readiness have not been independently verified.
