Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Warn Foreign Powers Against Interference in Strait of Hormuz

TEHRAN: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has warned that it will not tolerate what it considers interference by outside powers in the Strait of Hormuz, saying its naval forces are prepared to respond to unauthorised activity in the strategic waterway.
IRGC commander-in-chief Major General Ahmad Vahidi said the Revolutionary Guards and the Iranian armed forces possessed the military capabilities needed to protect the country’s maritime borders.
He warned that any unauthorised movement or action in the strait could prompt a decisive response from Iranian forces.
Vahidi said Iran was determined to safeguard its security and interests in the waterway, which serves as one of the world’s most important routes for international oil and gas shipments.
The warning comes as Tehran has tightened its rhetoric over maritime access and cautioned commercial vessels against using routes it considers unauthorised.
Iranian officials have also argued that regional security arrangements should not be dictated by outside military powers.
The Strait of Hormuz has become a major point of tension during the conflict, with concerns over shipping restrictions, potential attacks and disruptions to energy supplies affecting international markets.
Any further escalation in the waterway could increase risks for commercial vessels and place additional pressure on global energy trade.
