Iran Condemns UK Allegations Over RAF Fairford Incident, Rejects Claims of IRGC Involvement

Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned British allegations linking Tehran to a suspected security incident at RAF Fairford air base, describing the accusations as baseless and politically motivated. In a statement issued on Monday, the ministry accused Britain of using the incident to advance an anti-Iran campaign and evade accountability for its role in the US-Israeli military aggression against Iran.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry rejected the British government’s use of expressions such as “highly likely” and “almost certainly,” arguing that the allegations lacked publicly presented evidence. Tehran accused London of using unsubstantiated security claims against other countries and warned that such practices could undermine international peace and security. It also held the British government and those allegedly responsible for what it described as a “false flag” operation accountable for any resulting consequences.

Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Andy Burnham said the suspected plot against RAF Fairford was “almost certainly” directed by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The UK also announced sanctions against two Iranian nationals over alleged hostile activity and pledged further measures targeting Iran and the IRGC. British authorities arrested several men near the air base in late September on suspicion of terrorism and explosives offences, but subsequently released them on bail. No conclusive evidence establishing an Iranian connection has been publicly presented. RAF Fairford has been used by US military aircraft for operations against Iranian territory, with Britain authorizing Washington in March to use the base for specified strikes against Iranian missiles.
