OGDC Starts Production from Butrsim East-1 Well in Khairpur, Producing 7 Million Cubic Feet of Gas and 200 Barrels of Condensate Daily

ISLAMABAD: Oil and Gas Development Company(OGDC)has commenced production of gas and condensate from its Butrsim East-1 well in Khairpur district of Sindh, a development expected to boost the country’s domestic energy supply.

According to an OGDC spokesperson, the well is currently producing 7 million cubic feet of gas and 200 barrels of condensate per day. Gas supplies are expected to increase further as production stabilises. The gas produced from the well has been integrated into the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) network.

To operationalise the project, OGDC laid a 28-kilometre-long gas pipeline connecting the well to the Sinjhoro Gas Processing Plant. OGDCL holds a 77.5 per cent working interest in the project, while Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL) owns the remaining 22.5 per cent.

The commencement of production marks a significant step in OGDC’s efforts to increase domestic oil and gas output and bring indigenous energy resources into the national supply system. The company’s progress reflects the emphasis on accelerating production projects and bringing new capacity online under the leadership of Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Hayat Lak and Chairman of the Board Zafar Masud.

The additional supply of indigenous gas is expected to help meet domestic energy demand and potentially reduce reliance on imported fuels. According to the company, gas supplies from the well could increase further once production stabilises.
