FGEHA, FDHL sign MoU for housing project on 2,000 kanals in Capital Smart City

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Future Development Holdings (Pvt) Limited (FDHL) to develop a housing project on approximately 2,000 kanals of land within Capital Smart City in Rawalpindi district.
The agreement, signed at FGEHA headquarters in Islamabad on Wednesday, marks a step towards expanding residential facilities for federal government employees through a public-private partnership.

Under the proposed arrangement, the project will be developed under a land-sharing model, with both parties collaborating to utilise available resources for the development of a modern residential scheme.
FGEHA Chief Engineer Syed Muhammad Hassan signed the MoU on behalf of the authority, while FDHL Executive Director Brigadier (retired) Muhammad Nadeem Aslam represented the private developer. Senior officials of FGEHA attended the signing ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, FGEHA Director General Capt (retired) Muhammad Zafar Iqbal said the initiative reflected the authority’s commitment to providing quality residential facilities to government employees through partnerships with reputable private-sector developers.
He said Capital Smart City offered planned infrastructure and a range of amenities, including educational institutions, healthcare facilities, mosques, parks, sports facilities, community centres and commercial areas.
The proposed project is expected to provide residential opportunities for federal government employees in Rawalpindi and adjoining areas, according to an FGEHA spokesperson.
The director general said the federal government had prioritised the provision of secure, affordable and quality housing for its employees, adding that the housing minister and the secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Works had directed the timely completion of ongoing development projects while ensuring transparency.
He said FGEHA had made progress on several housing schemes in Islamabad and Karachi, some of which had been completed, while others were at advanced stages of development.
Mr Iqbal reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to completing ongoing projects within stipulated timelines and improving housing facilities in line with modern standards.
He added that cooperation with private-sector partners would help FGEHA expand access to planned and sustainable residential facilities.
The MoU signing is an initial step towards the proposed development. Further details regarding the project’s implementation schedule, allocation of residential units and eligibility criteria were not specified in the press release.
