Finalise KCR project implementation mechanism with China: PD-EAD told.
Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar directed the Planning Division and Economic Affairs Division (EAD) to immediately initiate work for finalising the implementation mechanism of Karachi Circular Railway project with the Chinese side.

He directed them while chairing a meeting to discuss the KCR project today.
The minister underlined Federal Government’s full committment and support to the KCR project.
He said the govt commited for its expeditious implementation in consultation with the Chinese side.
He said that the project would provide safe, efficient and reliable public transport for the citizens of Karachi.
Meanwhile, meeting discussed the issues hampering the implementation of KCR project as the government of Sindh indicated it.
The officials concerned briefed the Minister in detail on the project.
Furthermore, they informed that Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved the PC-I of KCR project in October 2017.
The ECNEC approved total cost of project amounted $1.971 billion. However no progress could be made in arranging the financing for the project.
Secretaries of Ministries of Planning, Finance, EAD, Communications and senior officials of Planning Commission participated in the meeting.
KCR aims at providing intra-city local train service to ease travelling.
Karachiites long for KCR since long but successive governments did nothing but lip service in the past.
