SAARC Member States Video conference being held on Pakistani proposal today.

They will discuss the COVID-19 pandemic.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Health Services, Dr. Zafar Mirza will lead the Pakistani delegation in the conference.

Secretary General SAARC, Esala Ruwan Weerakon will also attend the Conference.

The virtual meeting takes forward Pakistan’s earlier initiative to host the SAARC Health Ministers meeting.

Specially that also assumed urgency in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The video conference is also part of Pakistan’s efforts to foster greater cooperation at the regional level.

Pakistan wants to effectively overcome the public health crisis, and mitigate its socio-economic impact.

Meanwhile, government of Pakistan is also working on more funds to help affected people.

Pakistan Television (PTV) Network will air a massive Telethon transmission today.

According to Senator Faisal Javed Khan, the government and private TV channels will launch the telethon for Corona Relief Fund.

The programme aims at sensitizing Pakistani citizens within the country and abroad to come forward in helping the countrymen in this testing time.

In a video message, he said due to vast number of affected persons, huge amounts will be required to help them.

Moreover, he urged the philanthropists to actively participate in this fundraising campaign.
