Pakistan makes locust control efforts in collaboration with friendly countries.

Turkish government has offered its expertise to the government of Pakistan to augment its locust control efforts.

In this regard, on the special instructions of Pakistan government, a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) C-130 aircraft arrived at Adana, Turkey.

It airlifted the purpose-built Piper Brave spray aircraft from the brotherly country.

Pakistan makes locust control efforts

According to PAF press release, the aircraft, along with four crew members would landing in Pakistan today.

After having assembled, it would depart for the pest infected areas in the country.

This aircraft would be used to fight the locust onslaught on various crops and cultivable lands across the country, especially Sindh and Punjab.

Turkey and Pakistan are all weather friends.

This gesture would help improve a comprehensive pest control system to overcome the locust plague.

The PAF transport fleet has a rich history of serving the nation in various natural calamities.

They always remained in the forefront of providing air transport to the relief efforts in the country.

Meanwhile, Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan on Tuesday called for Tehran-Islamabad cooperation to stem desert locust attacks.

Moreover, he called them dangerous to the food security of millions of people in the two countries.

Mohammad Ali Hosseini said this in an article published by local media on Tuesday.

Furthermore, IRNA, he said the new challenges like global pandemics, climate change, pollution and infest of locusts require timely and collective response.

In this regard, China also offered help to Pakistan. A group of Chinese experts arrived in Pakistan in February 2020.

They extended a helping hand to tackle the country’s locust plague, which is threatening the South Asian nation’s food security.

The experts inspected severely hit regions and will donate equipment and offer technical support to help local governments tackle the plague.

At a news conference in Karachi, Chinese experts shared their views.

They said chemical pesticides and biotic pesticides remain the best and most-effective method to stamp out the massive plague of locusts in large areas of Pakistan.

They also said that using ducks had proven inefficient in tackling similar situations in South Asia and East Africa.
