Pakistan asks UNSC to hold India accountable for war crimes in IOJK (India-occupied Jammu and Kashmir).

The Permanent Representative of Pakistan at the UN, Munir Akram, said, whil;e speaking at the virtual meeting of the Security Council on the ‘Protection of Civilians in Armed Conflict in New York on Thursday.

Pakistan asks UNSC to hold India accountable

He called on the UN Security Council (UNSC) to intervene and hold India accountable for its grave breaches of international humanitarian law and war crimes in the occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

He also called for taking steps to settle the decades-old dispute.

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative Munir Akram warned that inaction by the 15-member body in cases of foreign aggression and occupation comes at a high human cost.

He urged the Council to focus on the root causes of emerging and long-standing conflicts, including Kashmir and Palestine, and find inclusive political solutions.

He said India has callously” exploited the coronavirus crisis to enhance its control of the occupied territory, already reeling from a nine-month-long digital and physical lockdown.

Earlier, Pakistan Army shot down Indian spying quadcopter along the LoC.
Indian spying quadcopter was flying over near Rakhchikri Sector along the Line of Control.
According to Director General ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar, the quadcopter had intruded 650 meters on Pakistan’s side of the LoC.

The DG ISPR said intrusion by the Indian spying quadcopter is Saffron terrorism.

Meanwhile, Foreign Office Spokesperson Aisha Farooqui slammed India over unilateral measures.

While talking to Radio Pakistan, she said India has taken some unilateral actions along the Line of Actual control.

She noted India took action in a disputed region of Eastern Ladakh in a bid to change the situation on ground.

Moreover, Aisha Farooqui said Indian unilateral actions prompted China to take a position in this regard.

She said Beijing has taken a principled position on the situation along the LAC and the border areas while ndia has to see the push back from China.
