However, he was feeling “strong” and “energetic”.

“This afternoon I felt a slight fever and immediately quarantined myself at home. I have now tested positive for COVID-19. By the grace of Allah, I feel strong and energetic,” the foreign minister announced on his Twitter handle.

He said he would continue to carry on his duties from home and requested the people to keep him in their prayers.

Meanwhile, Pakistan had reported 221,896 confirmed coronavirus cases so far.

Among them 103,722 currently active after 113,623 stood recovered.

But 4,551 succumbed to the pathogen.

The virus claimed lives of seventy eight people across the country during the last twenty four hours taking the death tally to 4,551.

22,941 corona tests were carried out during this period.

Several parliamentarians have already been infected by the COVID-19 pandemic, including National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad, Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif, former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Ahsan Iqbal of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and others.

Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus cases across the world has surpassed over eleven million.

Te pandemic has so far claimed more than 524,478 lives.

The United States tops both in number of cases and deaths with over two point eight million cases and more than 131,480 deaths followed by Brazil with over one point five million cases and more than 61,900 deaths.

Over six point one million patients have so far recovered from the disease across the world.
