Pakistani nation observes 49th anniversary of national hero Rashid Minhas.

The youngest Pakistan Air Force officer awarded Nishan-e-Haider due to matchless valor in 1971.

He was born on 17 February 1951 in Karachi and was commissioned as a GD-Pilot in the PAF in March 1971.

On 20 August 1971 during a routine training mission on a T-33 Jet trainer, Rashid Minhas was stopped by an instructor Flight Lieutenant Mati-ur-Rehman.

Mati got into the instructor’s seat, seized control and tried to fly the jet to India.

But Rashid Minhas aborted his nefarious plot at the cost of his own life.

That made him national hero and keep him alive in memory of all patriot Pakistanis.

He was awarded the military’s highest honour Nishan-e-Haider posthumously for his bravery.

Nishan-e-Haider remains the highest national award in Pakistan.

It goes to the great martyrs from military services for unmatched sacrifice and valor.

DG ISPR also lauds Rashid Minhas

Meanwhile, DG ISPR paid tributes to him under hashtag #OurMartyrsOurHeroes.

He tweeted: Today we remember supreme sacrifice of Pilot officer Rashid Minhas Shaheed (Nishan-e -Haider) in the line of duty.

Furthermore, DG ISPR tweeted: Pilot officer Rashid Minhas lived up to great traditions of Pakistan Air Force serving the motherland.
