Alleged desecration of Holy Quran in Sargodha sparked violent protests

An alleged desecration of the Holy Quran has triggered violent protests and mob attacks in Sargodha, GTV reported Saturday.

The mob attacked multiple houses, broke windows, and set the household belongings on fire, as protest continues in the city.

A Christian family was rescued by the local police, who are requesting anonymity. They have been relocated to a safe place. However, there was no immediate words from the government or senior police officials.

Clips on social media show the angry mob and police faceoff in the Mujahid Colony area of Sargodha.

Police officials said the desecration was committed by unknown people and burnt pages of religious books were found sparking violent protest.

Moreover, the angry protestors reportedly lynched Nazir Masih, s/o Sadiq Masih, as situation gets critical, with a large gathering at the victim’s house.

Apart from that, the mob also destroyed the ambulance and police van, then took his body
