30 May, 2024 14:36

Khawar Maneka, the former spouse of Bushra Bibi, has registered a case against alleged attack on him by PTI lawyers.

The case has been filed with Islamabad’s Ramna police station, in which 25 people has been nominated. Those nominated included Naeem Panjutha and Ali Ejaz Buttar.

It was stated in the FIR that the mob was led by Advocate Burki, who challenged Khawar Maneka, threatening to kill him. Besides, Naeem Panjutha punched Khawar Maneka, it added.

Yesterday, Session judge Shahrukh Arjumand hearing PTI founder and her spouse’ petitions against sentence in the Iddat case recused himself and left for his chamber without announcing the reserved verdict.

Later, the PTI lawyers attacked Khawar Maneka outside the courtroom.

The attack came after an exchange of hot words between Khawar Maneka and the PTI lawyers.

Session judge Shahrukh Arjumand has recused himself from hearing the case.

The sessions judge has written a letter to the Islamabad High Court. He said, in the letter, that Khawar Maneka has expressed no confidence in him.  The no-confidence application was dismissed earlier, it added.

The judge further wrote that there is a request to transfer the appeals to another court, adding that Khavar Maneka and his lawyers always tried to disrupt the hearing.

Speaking to the media outside the court, PTI leader Shibli Faraz said that delaying tactics are being used in the case.

Criticising the ex-husband of Bushra Bibi, he termed Maneka’s speech in the court as immoral.
