Honda to introduce hybrid car with advanced technology in Pakistan

19 August, 2025 15:53

Honda Atlas Cars Limited (HCAR), a subsidiary of Honda Motor Co., Ltd, has announced that it will soon launch a hybrid vehicle in Pakistan. The new car will also feature Honda Sensing, the company’s advanced driver-assistance system that offers safety and driving support functions.

HCAR President and CEO Masaya Wakuda shared the news during the company’s annual general meeting (AGM).

He addressed shareholder concerns about the lack of hybrid options in Honda’s local lineup, explaining that Honda has long been a global leader in hybrid technology, especially in the United States, and is now preparing to introduce that expertise to the Pakistani market.

Wakuda said the new model will not only bring Honda’s hybrid technology but also advanced safety features through Honda Sensing.

The announcement comes at a time when competition in Pakistan’s hybrid market is heating up. Toyota Pakistan recently revealed plans to invest $100 million in hybrid technology over the coming years, giving it an early advantage in the segment.

During the AGM, shareholders also raised concerns about the government’s decision to allow the import of second-hand cars up to five years old.

HCAR’s chairman noted that while such imports are allowed under specific conditions, the policy could push up prices of reconditioned vehicles but may also generate additional revenue for the government.

The company further confirmed that Pakistan’s Automobile Policy will remain valid until June 2026, giving the industry some regulatory clarity for the near future.
