Sindh Govt reveals date for Pink Scooters distribution
Sindh Senior Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon announced on Tuesday that “Pink Scooters” will be given free of cost to women in Karachi this week to support their daily travel needs.
The minister shared the update while reviewing the progress of the Yellow Line BRT project. He said that work on depots and related facilities was ongoing, while the Senator Taj Haider Bridge was almost complete and expected to open within a week.
Sharjeel Memon said the Sindh government, with the help of the World Bank, was working on several transport projects for Karachi. In addition to the scooter distribution, new double-decker and electric buses are also expected to arrive in the city soon.
He added that during President Asif Ali Zardari’s recent visit to China, talks were held about setting up bus manufacturing plants in Sindh, which would improve transport and create jobs.
The minister admitted that some projects had been delayed due to issues like utility transfers but assured that efforts were being made to resolve them quickly.
