JAC Launches Pakistan’s Most Affordable Hybrid SUV, JAC J5

Responding to the growing demand for hybrid vehicles in Pakistan, JAC, in collaboration with Nishat Group, has officially launched its most affordable hybrid SUV, the JAC J5.

According to the company, this vehicle aims to bridge the price gap between sedans and SUVs, offering modern technology, improved fuel efficiency, and premium features at a competitive price.

The JAC J5 is a self-charging hybrid SUV that combines a 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine with a 1.83 kWh battery. This technology, developed by Chery, is branded by the company as the “Super Hybrid System”. The SUV is available in two variants: Comfort and Premium.

Design-wise, the J5’s front resembles the Range Rover Evoque, featuring a waterfall-style grille, LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, hidden door handles, and a modern bumper, giving it the road presence of a luxury SUV. While the vehicle offers ample boot space, it replaces the spare wheel with a tire repair kit. The premium variant also includes a powered tailgate and 60:40 split rear seats.

Inside, the cabin features a dual-tone grey color scheme, soft-touch materials, carbon-fiber-style trims, and 36-color ambient lighting. The modern dashboard enhances the sense of space. Technology highlights include a 13.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system for controlling driving modes and hybrid energy usage, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an 8-inch digital instrument cluster.

Safety features are comprehensive, including 6 airbags, a 540-degree camera system, front collision warning, emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and driver fatigue monitoring.

Performance-wise, the SUV produces 221 horsepower and 295 Nm of torque, achieving a fuel efficiency of around 18 km/l. With a 51-liter fuel tank, a single fill allows a travel range of up to 950 km.

The JAC J5 is positioned as Pakistan’s most affordable hybrid SUV, with prices starting at PKR 6,699,000 for the Comfort variant and PKR 7,699,000 for the Premium variant. These introductory prices are valid until March 10, 2026, and financing options are available through banks, with monthly installments starting at PKR 106,542.

Experts say the JAC J5 provides a strong option for buyers looking to upgrade from a sedan to an SUV without compromising on fuel efficiency or comfort.
