Babar Azam breaks Virat Kohli’s T20I record

Pakistan white-ball captain Babar Azam on Tuesday broke Virat Kohli’s T20I record as Pakistan clinched the three-match series against Ireland.

The prolific batter scored impressive 75 while chasing a 179-run target in Dublin. Doing so, he surpassed Kohli’s record of most T20I half-centuries.

Most fifty-plus score T20Is:

Babar Azam has now scored 39 half-centuries in 110 innings, followed by Virat Kohli’s 38 fifties in 109 innings, and Rohit Sharma’s 34 in 143 innings.

Moreover, the 29-year-old is now nearing another milestone in the format. He is just 45 runs shy form completing 4,000 runs in T20I cricket.

Currently, he sits at 3955 runs, ranking third in the list of batter with the highest runs in T20I cricket, just behind Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

To surpass Kohli’s tally, he requires only 82 more runs.

Virat Kohli: 4037 (109 innings)

Rohit Sharma: 3974 (143)

Babar Azam: 3955 (110)
