Indian gold medalist powerlifter Yashitika Acharya has tragically passed away after a 270 kg barbell fell on her neck during training. Authorities have advised weak-hearted individuals not to watch the video of the incident.
According to Indian media reports, the 17-year-old athlete was training in a gym in Bikaner, Rajasthan, when the accident occurred. The heavy barbell slipped and landed on her neck, causing severe injuries. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed her death.
Police officials stated that Yashitika’s trainer was present and supervising her training at the time. Reports suggest that the barbell slipped from the trainer’s hands, leading to the fatal injury. The trainer sustained minor injuries but is otherwise safe.
Yashitika Acharya was a gold medalist in powerlifting at the Junior National Games and had dreams of representing India in international competitions.
