Who was Jan Schweiterman? Good Burger star dead at 52

Jan Patrick “J.P.” Schweiterman, best known for portraying Kurt Bozwell in the 1997 Nickelodeon classic Good Burger, has passed away at the age of 52. His death was confirmed in an obituary shared by Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, stating that the actor succumbed to an aggressive form of stage 4 cancer after a brief battle.

Schweiterman passed away on February 28 at Mercy Hospital in Washington, Missouri. His brother, Chad Schweiterman, shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook, requesting prayers and support for their grieving family.

The Indiana-born actor gained recognition for his role as Kurt Bozwell, the owner of rival fast-food chain Mondo Burger and the main antagonist in Good Burger, opposite Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson. The film was inspired by a recurring sketch from Nickelodeon’s All That, which later led to the hit series Kenan & Kel.

Although Good Burger 2 was released in 2023, Schweiterman did not reprise his role. Beyond his iconic Nickelodeon performance, he also appeared in popular TV series such as Felicity, McKenna, ER, and Forever.

His passing marks a great loss for fans who fondly remember his role in the cult-favorite comedy film.
