Who is Corey Flintoff? Andrew Flintoff son signs two-year Kent rookie contract
Kent County Cricket Club has secured the signing of Corey Flintoff, the 19-year-old son of England icon Andrew Flintoff, on a two-year rookie contract. The promising fast-bowling allrounder, who honed his skills in Lancashire’s youth system and second XI, now aims to carve his own path in professional cricket while balancing university studies.
A Family Legacy Continues
Corey, whose younger brother Rocky also debuted for Lancashire’s second XI last year, trained with Kent’s first team ahead of his recent four-over spell in a warm-up match against Essex. His arrival coincides with the appointment of Adam Hollioake—former England captain and Andrew Flintoff’s 1999 World Cup teammate—as Kent’s new head coach.
“I’m thrilled to join Kent and develop under Adam and the coaching staff,” Corey said. “The team’s been incredibly welcoming, and I’m ready to push for first-team cricket.”
Kent’s Vision for the Young Allrounder
Kent’s Director of Cricket, Simon Cook, highlighted Corey’s dual threat with bat and ball: “He’s a hard worker with the drive to succeed. We’re excited he’s chosen Kent as the place to make his mark.”
The deal allows Corey to juggle academic commitments with county cricket, offering flexibility as he transitions into the professional arena.
