Who is Oti Mabuse husband? All about Marius Lepure

05 April, 2025 15:29

Behind the glittering costumes and dazzling dance moves, Strictly Come Dancing star Oti Mabuse shares an extraordinary partnership with her husband Marius Lepure that transcends the dancefloor. This is their remarkable journey – from competitive dancers to life partners and parents.

Who is Marius Lepure?

At 41 years old, Romanian-born Marius Lepure is seven years Oti’s senior. Unlike his wife who began dancing at just four years old, Marius came to dance relatively late at age 12, having initially focused on football. His natural talent quickly became apparent as he rose through competitive ranks.

The couple’s paths crossed in Germany in 2012 when Oti’s sister Motsi Mabuse (now a Strictly judge) introduced them. “I needed a new partner and Motsi said ‘I know just the person’,” Oti recalled in interviews. Their instant chemistry was undeniable both professionally and personally.

Competitive Success and Romance

As professional partners, their achievements include:

  • 2013 German National Show Dance Champions
  • World Latin Championship Silver Medalists
  • Competed together on Germany’s Let’s Dance (2014-2015)

Their professional relationship blossomed into romance, with Marius proposing during a training session in 2014. They married later that year in a private ceremony in Denmark before relocating to London for Oti’s Strictly debut in 2015.

Life in London and Career Evolution

While Oti became a household name through Strictly (2015-2021), Dancing on Ice judging and The Masked Dancer, Marius transitioned into:

  • Dance coaching and choreography
  • Judging international competitions
  • Supporting Oti’s television career

Their London home became a creative hub, with Marius often helping Oti choreograph her iconic Strictly routines. “He’s my toughest critic but biggest supporter,” Oti told Hello! magazine.

Parenthood and Premature Birth Trauma

The couple’s greatest challenge came when their daughter was born 10 weeks premature on Christmas Day 2023. Weighing just 2lbs 7oz, the baby spent six weeks in neonatal intensive care with a serious infection.

Oti bravely shared their ordeal on Loose Women:
“Seeing her in the incubator with all the wires… it was traumatic. Marius had to be our rock when I was falling apart.”

The experience strengthened their bond, with Oti praising Marius’ emotional support: “He learned how to just hold me while I cried. That’s what real partnership is.”

What’s Next for the Power Couple?

Now settled into parenthood, the duo have expressed hopes for:

  • Expanding their family “if God allows”
  • Potentially collaborating on a dance project
  • Continuing to balance Oti’s TV career with family life

As Oti told The Times“We’ve been through competitions, career changes, and becoming parents. Every step has been a dance we’ve learned together.”

Their story stands as a testament to the power of partnership – both in dance and in life. From the competition floor to the neonatal unit, theirs is a love built on rhythm, resilience and unwavering mutual support.
