Who is Jonathan Anderson? Meet Dior’s New Creative Director

02 June, 2025 17:28

Dior has officially announced that Jonathan Anderson, a renowned designer from Northern Ireland, will become the new creative director of both the women’s and men’s collections for the luxury French fashion house. This makes him the first designer in Dior’s history to lead both divisions—a remarkable and groundbreaking achievement.

The 40-year-old designer, originally from Magherafelt in County Londonderry, shared the news on Instagram, calling the opportunity a “great honour.”

“I have always been inspired by the rich history of this House, its depth, and empathy,” Anderson said. “I look forward to working alongside its legendary Ateliers to craft the next chapter of this incredible story.”

Why Is This a Big Deal?

This leadership move follows the departure of Maria Grazia Chiuri, Dior’s longtime womenswear artistic director, and the resignation of Kim Jones as head of Dior menswear in January.

Anderson was previously announced as Dior’s new menswear artistic director in April, shortly after he stepped down from Loewe, where he served as creative director for over a decade. The announcement of his leadership for both lines shows Dior’s confidence in his vision, versatility, and innovation.

Dior’s Leadership Reacts

Bernard Arnault, chair of LVMH (Dior’s parent company), praised Anderson as: “One of the greatest creative talents of his generation. His incomparable artistic signature will be a crucial asset in writing the next chapter of the history of the House of Dior.”

Delphine Arnault, chairperson of Dior, echoed the sentiment: “I am delighted that Jonathan’s creativity will be brought to life at Dior. I have followed his career with great interest and I’m convinced he will bring a modern vision inspired by Monsieur Dior himself.”
