Who is OIC New Chairman? All about Türkiye FM Hakan Fidan

21 June, 2025 14:21

In a critical summit held to address the worsening crises in the Middle East, Türkiye has officially assumed the chairmanship of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for the next three years. The announcement was made during an emergency OIC session focused on Israel’s ongoing attacks on Gaza and Iran.

The newly appointed OIC Chairman, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, delivered a powerful address, calling for Muslim unity and immediate action to protect the people of Gaza and Iran.

Hakan Fidan’s Address: Urgent Call for Muslim Solidarity

In his opening remarks, Fidan stressed that the OIC summit was convened specifically to review the “current aggression by Israel against Gaza and Iran.”

“Israel is attacking Iran right now,” he stated. “At this moment, it is crucial for the Muslim Ummah to stand together.”

Fidan emphasized the need to show solidarity with both Gaza and Iran, urging all Muslim-majority nations to come together in the face of increasing regional instability.

Türkiye Condemns Israeli Strikes

Fidan firmly condemned Israel’s airstrikes on Gaza and its reported aggression against Iranian targets.

“We strongly condemn Israel’s attacks on Gaza,” he said. “We also strongly condemn the recent strikes against Iran.”

He warned that Israel’s actions are not only a threat to the Palestinian people but also a source of wider regional destabilization.

Immediate Ceasefire Demanded in Gaza

The Turkish foreign minister called for an immediate end to the hostilities in Gaza, labeling the current situation as unsustainable and dangerous.

“The violence in Gaza must stop immediately,” he declared. “Peace and stability in the region are impossible as long as Israel continues its attacks.”

Türkiye’s Vision for the OIC

With Türkiye now leading the OIC, Fidan pledged to use the platform to promote cooperation among Muslim states, particularly in times of crisis.

“As chairman, our priority will be to bring Muslim nations closer and respond to threats with unity and purpose,” he affirmed.
