As Amanda Anisimova continues her stunning run at Wimbledon 2025, aiming to become the first American woman to win the title since Serena Williams in 2016, one person is proudly cheering her on — her older sister, Maria Egee.
Maria has been spotted courtside during Amanda’s matches, often with her son Jackson in her lap. But many tennis fans are curious: Who is Maria Egee?
Who Is Maria Egee? Early Life and Family Background
Maria was born in Russia (then the Soviet Union) in 1988. Her parents, Olga Anisimova and Konstantin Anisimov, moved the family to the United States in 1998, when Maria was 10.
Amanda was born three years later in 2001. The family settled in Florida, where both sisters began playing tennis at a young age.
Maria actually picked up a racket first. She started playing at age 10 in Moscow. When the family moved to Florida, she kept playing and eventually influenced Amanda to follow in her footsteps.
College Tennis and Education
Maria attended the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She studied economics and played college tennis for the university. She graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
Amanda has often said that seeing Maria train and compete inspired her to take tennis seriously. “She played tennis, and I wanted to do it too,” Amanda shared in past interviews.
Career in Finance
After college, Maria joined Goldman Sachs, where she worked for nearly seven years. She later moved to Bank of America, where she was hired as a Director.
She became known for leading the bank’s efforts in credit default swaps trading. This success landed her on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list.
In January 2025, Maria started a new chapter as a Portfolio Manager at Loop Capital Asset Management. According to her LinkedIn, the firm manages over $10 billion in assets. Maria now focuses on high-yield bonds, structured credit, and multi-asset strategies.
Her Life as a Mom and Sister
Maria married Kevin Egee in 2016. The couple lives in Florida and have two sons, including Jackson, who has become a favorite of Amanda’s fans.
After Amanda’s quarterfinal win at Wimbledon, little Jackson joined her on the court for a heartwarming moment that went viral.
Family and Support
In 2019, tragedy struck when Amanda and Maria’s father, Konstantin, passed away unexpectedly. The sisters became even closer, supporting each other through the loss.
Maria has played a big role in Amanda’s life — as her first tennis idol, her role model, and now her biggest fan.
