Anshul Kamboj, a 24-year-old fast bowler from Karnal, Haryana, made his Test debut for India on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, in Manchester. He replaced Akash Deep in the playing XI for the final match of the India-England Test series. Known for his consistent performances in domestic cricket, Anshul became India’s 318th Test cricketer.
Kamboj rose to fame last year after taking all 10 wickets in a single innings of a Ranji Trophy match for Haryana against Kerala in Rohtak. Since making his first-class debut in February 2022, he has played 24 matches, claiming 79 wickets and scoring 486 runs. His career-best score with the bat is 51 not out, which came recently during a match for India A against the England Lions in June 2025.
He has also impressed in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In the 2025 season, he was bought by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for ₹3.40 crore and picked up eight wickets in eight matches. Earlier, he had a short stint with Mumbai Indians in 2024, playing three games and taking two wickets.
In domestic cricket, Anshul has played key roles in both bowling and lower-order batting. He has two five-wicket hauls in first-class cricket and participated in the 2024 Duleep Trophy for India C, taking 16 wickets in just three matches.
Kamboj’s selection for the national team comes after consistent performances across formats, especially in recent months. With solid numbers and strong temperament, he is seen as a promising addition to India’s pace bowling attack.
