Attorney General Pam Bondi has a strong supporter by her side — her longtime partner John Wakefield. During her swearing-in ceremony as the U.S. Attorney General in February 2025, Wakefield stood beside her holding the Bible. Even former President Donald Trump joked about his looks, calling him Bondi’s “very handsome husband.”

Pam Bondi first shared a glimpse of her relationship with John Wakefield on Instagram in October 2017. She posted a selfie with him at a Bruno Mars concert, along with some friends.

Since then, the couple has appeared in more posts together, showing shared moments at the White House, on vacations, and with family. In one photo from 2022, they are seen together in Ireland, enjoying the scenic countryside.

Wakefield Works in Private Equity

John Wakefield is the co-founder of Varner Wakefield Equity Partners, a private equity firm that focuses on real estate investments across the U.S.

Before starting his firm in 2015, he worked as a banker and then became the vice president of business development at Lykes Bros Inc., a Florida-based land and cattle company.

Wakefield has a strong academic background. He earned his bachelor’s degree in English from the College of Charleston in 1994 and later completed a degree in international business at Thunderbird School of Global Management in 1998.

Trump Called Him Her “Very Handsome Husband”

During Bondi’s February 2025 swearing-in, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas administered the oath while John Wakefield held the Bible. Trump introduced Wakefield with a bit of humor: “I just want to introduce her very, very handsome husband. I hate being around him. He looks too good,” Trump said, joking. “He’s been a tremendous factor with Pam.”

Although Trump called him her husband, neither Bondi nor Wakefield has confirmed if they are officially married.

Wakefield Is a Father of Three

John Wakefield appears to have three children, according to his Instagram bio. Bondi has posted photos of him celebrating his birthday with the kids, including one of them swimming by the pool in 2017.
