Who Is Riccardo Frascari? Meet the Actor Playing Enzo Favara in Mafia

08 August, 2025 13:00

Riccardo Frascari shared his excitement about playing Enzo Favara in Mafia: The Old Country, which launched today. He said, “Can’t even begin to express how proud and honored I am to be part of this franchise.” For Riccardo, this role is both a big step in his career and a personal link to his Sicilian roots.

In the game, Riccardo not only voices Enzo Favara but also performs motion capture for the character. The story is set in early 1900s Sicily. It follows Enzo’s journey from a child laborer in sulfur mines to an important figure in the Cosa Nostra mafia.

Riccardo Frascari’s Early Career

Riccardo was born in Bologna, Italy, on September 9, 1997. He started acting in 2016 with the Italian film The Asteroids. After that, he appeared in commercials, short films, and music videos. His big break came with Nickelodeon Latin America’s Club 57. The show aired in over 25 countries and even had a live tour in Argentina, followed by a second season filmed in Colombia.

Riccardo also acted in HBO Europe’s 30 Coins and the film La California. Now, he brings his talents to the world of video games with Mafia: The Old Country. His character, Enzo, is an orphaned Carusu — a Sicilian term for boys forced to work in dangerous mines — who gets pulled into crime.

Portraying Enzo Favara: A Challenge

Riccardo told GameReactor about the challenge of playing a character from a time before movies or TV. To prepare, he studied the real history of Carusi (child miners). He said seeing old photos helped him bring Enzo’s story to life.

He also praised the game’s development team for their research, which made the early Mafia culture feel very real. When asked about influences, Riccardo named classic gangster films and shows like The Sopranos, Goodfellas, and The Godfather. He highlighted The Godfather: Part II as a major inspiration.

A Unique Acting Experience

Recording the game wasn’t just voice acting. Riccardo and his co-stars wore motion capture suits covered with tracking dots on a sound stage. The work felt very cinematic, despite being surrounded by studio lights and crew.

Riccardo worked closely with actors Johnny Santiago, Alberto Frezza, Christian Antidormi, and Carina Conti. He said they formed “a beautiful family” during the production. They had to imagine dark Sicilian streets and tense mob meetings while acting in a bright studio.
