Who is Krishna Kumar Janu? BJP Expels Rajasthan Spokesperson
Friday, August 9, 2024 β The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has expelled its Rajasthan unit spokesperson Krishna Kumar Janu. The action came after he openly questioned the partyβs treatment of former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik and former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.
While many linked his removal to his recent criticism, the BJP cited a different reason. The party said his expulsion was connected to his earlier opposition to the appointment of Harshini Kulhari as Jhunjhunu district president in June.
BJPβs Official Statement
Onkar Singh Lakhawat, chairperson of the BJP state disciplinary committee, said Janu had been issued a show-cause notice on June 20, 2024. βHe failed to justify his actions, and the committee decided to expel him for six years,β Lakhawat said.
Viral Video Sparks Controversy
A video of Januβs speech has gone viral on social media. In it, he accused BJP leaders of showing βhumiliating treatmentβ toward Malik and Dhankhar, both of whom belong to the Jat community.
Janu said he was deeply hurt by what he described as the governmentβs βtiraskarβ (disrespect) toward Malik, who passed away last week. He urged Jat leaders within the party to speak up.
Background on Satya Pal Malikβs Rift with BJP
Malik had earlier accused the BJP-led central government of corruption, claiming he was offered a bribe to clear files for two major projects in Jammu and Kashmir. He also raised questions over farmer issues and the Pulwama terror attack.
Criticism of Party Leadership
Janu further alleged that the BJP has sidelined senior leaders such as L.K. Advani, Murali Manohar Joshi, Yashwant Sinha, and Vasundhara Raje. βThe party is going in the wrong direction through all this. I donβt understand why the people are quiet,β he said in the viral clip.
Questions Over Dhankharβs Exit
Janu also questioned why Dhankhar did not receive a farewell speech or event after resigning last month for health reasons. His resignation was submitted on the first day of the monsoon session of Parliament.
He warned MPs, MLAs, and party officials from the Jat community that they could face similar treatment in the future.
