Former footballer Dwight Yorke is facing heavy criticism after wishing his younger son Orlando a happy 18th birthday but failing to acknowledge his eldest son, Harvey Price. The incident sparked anger among fans, who accused him of being a “deadbeat dad” and showing “selective parenting.”

Yorke, 53, shared photos of Orlando on Facebook with a heartfelt caption, calling him “an amazing young man” and saying he was proud of his future. However, fans quickly flooded the comments asking, “What about Harvey?” Many pointed out that Yorke had not posted anything for Harvey’s birthday in May or previous years.

Harvey, now 23, is Katie Price’s son with Yorke. He was born with autism, Prader-Willi syndrome, and septo-optic dysplasia. Yorke and Katie had a brief relationship in 2001. After Harvey’s birth, Yorke initially denied being his father until a DNA test confirmed it.

Katie Price has long said that Yorke has had little involvement in Harvey’s life, claiming he last saw his son in 2012. She also revealed that her mother contacts Yorke’s manager every year before Harvey’s birthday, but the answer is always “no.”

In past interviews, Katie has kept the door open for Yorke to reconnect with Harvey but says he has shown no interest. She believes this situation has been emotionally difficult for Harvey, who doesn’t understand why he doesn’t see his father.

In 2019, Katie even shared a video of Harvey calling out to “Daddy Dwight” and saying he loved him, urging Yorke to get in touch. The appeal went unanswered.

Fans have now criticised Yorke for celebrating Orlando while ignoring Harvey, with some pointing out the striking resemblance between the two brothers. Katie says she does not know if Orlando even knows about Harvey.

Yorke has not commented on the backlash.
