Who is Muhammad Ubaid Jahangir? Azad Kashmir Police Arrest Indian Spy
Police in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) have arrested a young man accused of spying for India. According to the FIR registered at Panjgran Police Station in Muzaffarabad, the suspect has been identified as Muhammad Ubaid Jahangir, son of Muhammad Jahangir.
The FIR states that Ubaid Jahangir secretly shared sensitive information with India’s intelligence agency RAW. He allegedly sent the GPS location of Bilal Mosque Nullah Shawai in Muzaffarabad through WhatsApp. The shared information reportedly helped India in carrying out an attack on the mosque.
Officials also revealed that Ubaid provided details about other important security installations to RAW in return for large sums of money. This raised major concerns about internal security in the region.
Locals said that Ubaid had links with Lashkar-e-Tayyiba (LeT), also known as Jamaatud Dawa, which is a banned organization. His uncle, Shaukat, son of Summundar, was considered a senior figure in the group and had worked as a mosque administrator.
People from the area further explained that Ubaid’s family originally came from Indian Occupied Kashmir but later settled in Rawalakot.
Authorities in AJK are now investigating the case under the Official Secrets Act, as it involves national security and foreign intelligence activities. Police confirmed that Ubaid Jahangir is under custody, and further investigations are being carried out.
