Who is Mayank Singh? Gangster with Bishnoi gang links extradited from Azerbaijan
Ranchi: Jharkhand Police’s Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) has successfully brought back gangster Mayank Singh, also known as Sunil Meena, from Baku, Azerbaijan.
This is the first-ever successful extradition in Jharkhand Police’s history, according to ATS SP Rishav Kumar Jha. Singh will now be presented in the Ramgarh court, where the police will seek his remand.
Who is Mayank Singh?
Singh has over 50 criminal cases registered against him in Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Punjab, and other states.
He had fled India but continued to threaten businessmen and run an extortion racket from abroad.
His activities brought him under the radar of Interpol, which issued a Red Corner Notice against him.
In October 2024, he was caught in Azerbaijan’s Datu.
Links with Bishnoi Gang
The Jharkhand Police suspects that Singh is closely linked with gangster Aman Sahu and has also maintained connections with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
He allegedly acted as a bridge between the two gangs, coordinating operations across states.
In 2024, police had arrested four shooters from Aman Sahu’s gang who were reportedly working on Singh’s instructions.
Police believe he used codenames to hide identities and manage operations.
ATS officials said Singh’s interrogation will help uncover the extent of cooperation between Aman Sahu and Lawrence Bishnoi gangs, even from inside prisons.
