Who is Alice Constantin? Shoplifter who stole more than £5,000 worth of items pleads guilty

Alice Constantin, a 19-year-old shoplifter from Ilford, pleaded guilty to stealing more than £5,400 worth of items from stores across London. On September 25, 2025, she will be sentenced at Westminster Magistrates’ Court after admitting to seven counts of theft.

According to police reports, Constantin carried out a series of thefts between November 2024 and July 2025. CCTV footage showed her targeting cosmetic shops and clothing stores, often removing security tags before walking out with stolen goods.

On 29 March 2025, she stole £2,000 worth of cosmetic products from a store on Gracechurch Street. On the same day, she also took £560 worth of clothing and homeware from another store nearby. Later, on 16 July 2025, she stole skincare products worth £620 from a shop on Bishopsgate.

Investigators confirmed that her crimes went back further. On 4 November 2024, Constantin stole £820 worth of products from a Gracechurch Street store. She returned on 14 December 2024, taking £680 worth of items. On 9 March 2025, she attempted to steal £520 worth of makeup from a shop on Cheapside but left empty-handed when confronted by staff. Just months later, on 16 July 2025, she stole £194 worth of skincare products from a Moorgate shop.

Sergeant Chris Hook of the City of London Police explained that shoplifting causes alarm and distress to retail workers and the public. He urged businesses to report all cases so police can act quickly. With the help of store CCTV and London’s extensive camera network, officers were able to track and arrest Constantin.

Alice Constantin’s guilty plea has highlighted how repeat shoplifters can cause significant financial losses for businesses. Police have reassured the public that such offenders will be prosecuted and face serious consequences. Her final sentencing later this month will determine what punishment she will receive.
