Who Is Kyrone Moodie? First Photo of South London Shooting Victim Released

The victim of a fatal shooting in Clapham, south London, has been named as Kyrone Moodie, a 27-year-old described by his family as a “humble and god-worshipping” man who always put loved ones first.

The Shooting Near a Playground

The attack happened on Monday, 8 September at around 8:50 pm on New Park Road, close to a children’s playground. Witnesses reported hearing at least five gunshots.

Kyrone was critically wounded alongside a 20-year-old man, who has since been discharged from hospital. Despite urgent medical treatment, Kyrone later died in the early hours of Tuesday, 9 September.

A mother living nearby told reporters she heard multiple shots before seeing people rushing to help one of the victims. Another resident described the sound as “very loud and one after another, like from a handgun.”

Family Tribute

In a heartfelt statement, Kyrone’s family said: “Kyrone was a loving family man. He was genuine and determined. He helped everyone he could. Kyrone was just a humble, funny and god-worshipping family-oriented man.”

They are now being supported by specialist officers as detectives continue the investigation.

Police Investigation

The Metropolitan Police confirmed a murder probe has been launched. Forensic officers recovered bullet casings from the scene, while detectives are reviewing CCTV footage to track down those responsible.

No arrests have yet been made, and police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Community Shock

The shooting has left residents shaken. Witnesses said panic broke out when gunfire erupted so close to a playground. One local described the scene as “horrible,” adding that one of the young men shot may have been “caught up with the wrong people.”

The investigation remains ongoing as officers work to piece together the events leading to Kyrone’s death.
