Who Is Christina Sanchez? The Trinidad Woman Missing For Over 120 Days
TRINIDAD (October 2, 2025) – Christina Sanchez, a 53-year-old woman from Trinidad, has been missing for more than 120 days after vanishing in late April. Her family continues to search tirelessly as police say there are still no strong leads in the case.
A Mother’s Relentless Search
Christina’s mother, Agnes Sanchez, a 75-year-old retired teacher from Ignacio, Colorado, has been leading the search on her own. She said the Trinidad Police Department (TPD) told her the case has gone cold. Out of frustration, she turned to social media to seek help, which brought more attention to her daughter’s disappearance.
Agnes has made several trips to Trinidad over the past four months. She has searched rural county roads, the Purgatoire River, Ave Maria Shrine, Cougar Canyon, and even the fields behind Walmart. She said she is doing all she can, despite having no experience in missing persons cases.
Questions Left Unanswered
Agnes believes authorities have not answered basic questions. She asked if police checked local business surveillance or if her first missing person report with the Las Animas County Sheriff’s Office is even on record. She is also unsure whether the case is being treated as a normal missing person investigation or if foul play is suspected.
Two independent psychics told Agnes that Christina may have gotten into a vehicle with a man. In July, Agnes posted on Facebook saying her daughter may have been taken by a man driving an old Ford truck, light blue or gray, with a damaged tailgate. The man was described as a Hispanic male in his 40s with tattoos, possibly working in construction.
Who Is Christina Sanchez?
Christina’s mother described her as shy, quiet, and very observant. She enjoys being around family but often stays on the sidelines because of social anxiety. She loves decorating for the holidays, especially Halloween.
Growing up, Christina tried ballet, tap dancing, skiing, and cheerleading before later playing the clarinet. She attended Trinidad State College, earning an AA degree, and later studied Biology at Southern Connecticut University.
In her early 20s, Christina was diagnosed with schizophrenia. Her family says she has lived with the condition for decades but kept a routine life. She often visited local shops in Trinidad, including Shirley’s Thrift Shop, where she reportedly had a mental episode before her disappearance.
Christina also attended Holy Trinity Church and was usually given rides by locals.
A Family That Won’t Give Up
Agnes says she will not stop searching until Christina is found. “I’m chasing every lead, no matter how small,” she said. “I just want my daughter back.”
The Trinidad Police Department has not responded to repeated requests for comment.
