Who are Dolly Parton’s Siblings? Freida Parton Asks for Prayers Amid Dolly’s Health Concerns
What Happened to Dolly Parton? Sister Freida Shares Emotional Post on Singer’s Health
Freida Parton, the younger sister of country music legend Dolly Parton, has asked fans worldwide to keep her famous sister in their prayers.
In a heartfelt Facebook post, Freida revealed she had been “up all night praying” for Dolly, who has reportedly been feeling unwell.
“I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been led to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me. She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!” Freida wrote.
The emotional message sparked concern among fans about Dolly’s health, prompting thousands of comments. Shortly after, Freida clarified her words, saying she didn’t mean to alarm anyone.
“I didn’t mean to make it sound so serious. Dolly’s just been a little under the weather,” she explained in a follow-up post. “I asked for prayers because I believe in their power. It was nothing more than a little sister asking for prayers for her big sister.”
Dolly Parton’s Family: A Look at Her Siblings
Dolly Parton was born into a large, musical family in Sevier County, Tennessee — one of 12 children of Robert and Avie Lee Parton. Her siblings include:
Willadeene Parton
David Parton (deceased)
Coy Parton
Robert Jr. Parton
Stella Parton
Cassie Parton
Randy Parton (deceased)
Larry Parton (died as an infant)
Floyd Parton (deceased)
Freida and Rachel Parton (twins)
The Partons shared a deep love of music — something Dolly has credited as the foundation of her career.
“I grew up in a very musical family,” Dolly told People in 2020. “My mother’s people were all musical. I was always around singing and instruments. It was just part of who I was.”
Four of her brothers — Larry, Floyd, Randy, and David — have passed away. Both Floyd and Randy were musicians who collaborated with Dolly, while Larry died as an infant and David lived a private life.
Among her living siblings, Willadeene became an author, Stella and Freida pursued music, and Rachel found success as an actress, notably in the sitcom 9 to 5. Freida later became an ordained minister and operates the Parton Family Wedding Chapel & Antiques in Tennessee.
Dolly Parton’s Health and Las Vegas Show Postponement
Last month, the Jolene singer announced that she was postponing her Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace due to medical reasons.
“As many of you know, I’ve been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me I must have a few procedures,” she said on Instagram.
“I want to give you the best show possible, and I can’t do that until I’m fully well.”
Dolly assured fans that she isn’t “quitting the business,” adding that she’s simply taking time to recover. Her December 2025 shows have been rescheduled to September 2026.
The 79-year-old icon has faced a difficult year, following the death of her husband, Carl Thomas Dean, in March 2025. Despite the challenges, Dolly continues to express optimism and gratitude toward her fans.
“I love you and thank you for understanding,” she concluded.
