The horrifying 2024 assault on Spanish travel influencers Fernanda and Vicente Gonzalez in Jharkhand, India, has once again captured public attention after resurfacing online. The couple, well-known for chronicling their global motorcycle expeditions, boast a following of over 300,000 on Instagram.

While journeying from India to Nepal on separate motorcycles, Fernanda and Vicente decided to camp overnight in Jharkhand’s Dumka district. According to The Mirror, a group of men attacked them during the night. The assailants reportedly raped 28-year-old Fernanda and brutally beat her 63-year-old husband, Vicente, using a helmet and a stone, leaving him with severe facial injuries. The attackers also stole the couple’s belongings before fleeing the scene.

In the aftermath, the pair took to social media to recount their ordeal, posting a distressing video from an Indian hospital that displayed their injuries—footage that has now resurfaced across platforms. Fernanda appeared visibly bruised, while Vicente described the terror of the incident.

“Something has happened to us that we would not wish on anyone. Seven men have raped me, they have beaten us and robbed us, although not many things, because what they wanted was to rape me,” read the caption accompanying one of Fernanda’s posts, which showed her battered face.

“My face looks like this, but it’s not what hurts me the most,” she wrote in another post, adding, “Thank God we are alive.” Vicente, in the same video, stated, “They beat us. They put a knife to my neck and told me they were going to kill me. Fernanda was raped. Seven of them. Seven men.”

After receiving medical treatment, the couple eventually returned to Spain.

Authorities in Jharkhand confirmed that three men have been charged in connection with the attack. Investigators said the accused took turns raping Fernanda and assaulting Vicente during the incident. Pitamber Singh Kherwar, a senior police officer, told The Mirror, “We have formed a team to hunt the remaining suspects. We have to ensure strict punishment.”

Anjaneyulu Dodde, deputy commissioner of Dumka, added, “We have given compensation of one million rupees. We are conducting a thorough investigation and will try to ensure a speedy trial and conviction.”
