Dancing With the Stars alum Jennifer Affleck and her husband, Zac Affleck, are stronger than ever as they recently welcomed their third child. The couple met on the Mormon dating app Mutual in 2018 when Jen was 18 and Zac was 21. After nearly a year of dating, they got engaged in early 2019 and married that June.

However, their marriage has faced challenges. During The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 1, Jen revealed that Zac’s acceptance into a New York medical school — his dream — created strain in their relationship. She admitted that “medical schools are super hard on marriages,” making her question whether it was worth pursuing.

Reflecting on their journey, Jen said, “Are we willing to put in the work to be better? Yes. Have there been moments when we wanted to walk away? Of course. But there’s so much more to our marriage than people realize.”

The pair briefly separated during Season 1, and by Season 2’s premiere in May 2025, they were living apart. Speaking to People, Jen shared that their decision came after watching themselves on the show and hearing criticism from MomTok members about their toxic behaviors. In an interview with Vulture, she admitted that filming exposed truths she hadn’t wanted to face, adding that the couple entered nonstop therapy afterward.

Jen also expressed concerns about being the main provider if they moved to New York for Zac’s studies, saying they needed to “be on the same page.”

Addressing rumors about Zac’s relation to actor Ben Affleck, Jen clarified that Zac is only a distant cousin. “It’s more of a joke than an actual family relative,” she told TV Insider, while Zac added, “I told her not to say that anymore — it might backfire.”
